“Dark, powerful and mysterious.” BBC 6 Music

Midnight Ambulance are a Scottish, alternative rock duo. Shortlisted for BBC Introducing Scottish Act of the Year, in 2022 they released their “electrically charged” (The Skinny) debut EP Smoke and Sweets. It was launched at a sold out headline show in Edinburgh’s legendary venue, The Caves.

Inspired by artists such as Frightened Rabbit and London Grammar, their music explores the peculiar force of our internal worlds.

The band formed after a chance encounter in Paris — Fraser (guitar, vocals), backline technician for First Aid Kit and Sam Fender, was on tour in the city while Amelia (drums, lead vocals) was pursuing a career in international PR. Briefly meeting at an open mic in Edinburgh ten years prior, they discovered an enchanting familiarity as they began to collaborate.

Together they create “ominous, looming” cinematic soundscapes that are contrasted with delicate, folk-inspired melodies. Their music leaves you “intrigued...but slightly scared!” (Vic Galloway, BBC Radio Scotland).

"Dark, brooding and extremely dynamic” (Tenement TV), they have headlined across the UK and internationally, and supported artists such as Texas, Twin Atlantic, The Pigeon Detectives and Fatherson. In 2023, they performed their debut international showcase at Future Echoes Festival (Sweden), Wide Days (Scottish Showcase) and Focus Wales (Welsh Showcase). Fraser was also invited to perform as a special guest for Sam Fender’s headline TRNSMT festival performance.
